Holidays

Our annual holidays away have always been an important aspect of the organisation, providing an opportunity for our members to relax and get to know one another outside of the setting of the Third Age Centre and the activities that they are involved in. Members are also provided with an opportunity to tour and experience parts of Ireland that they may not ordinarily have the chance to visit, with two holidays each year to locations around Ireland.

There are also opportunities for travel further afield, usually as part of an exchange with other older people’s organisations. In the past members have visited Italy, France, Belgium, England, Wales, Scotland etc.

Socials, Picnics, outings and tours (educational and social)

These activities are always popular with our members and partner participant groups. We try to provide as much variety as possible and recent trips have included visits to Belvedere House and Gardens, Tara, Banagher and Larchhill Arcadian Gardens. Other events included visits to the Gaeity Theatre, to cinemas and to the new Solstice Centre in Navan. We organize several garden parties, mini-concerts, socials, picnics and participate in social events at other centres/venues on invitation from other older people’s groups.

On the request of our members we also organised a number of shopping trips to centres such as Blanchardstown, and Navan. This activity was added to our current list as a result of issues associated with access to transport locally.

Recently visited Blanchardstown and Liffey valley shopping centres, Belvadere House and gardens, Knock, the Hill of Tara and Carlingford Lough, among others.
